Members’ Bikes

It is more dangerous riding on two wheels than four.  The major reason for four-wheeler and motorcycle collisions is . . . . the driver of the four-wheeler just didn’t see the bike.  Most frequent occurrence is intersections.  Even with your high beam on, many times the other driver looks up and down the road, but the existence of the motorcycle just does not register.  It is a no win for the bike and the rider(s).  What can be done?  Use your horn, soon and often, then wave.  It makes them scratch their head and wonder if they should know who you are.

The best way to get noticed is a Headlight Modulator.  When the high beam is on during the day, a light sensor flashes the high beam 3-4 times a second.  In low light situations the sensor disables the flasher, or you can switch to low beam.  These are especially effective when approaching an intersection.  It really gets you noticed.  Drivers actually turn and stare!  I have seen drivers begin to pull out in front of me and then do a “double take” and stop when they saw the high beam flashing.  One guy chased me five miles to tell me that my headlight was acting up and needed to be fixed.  Modulators range in price from $60 to over $150.  There is even one that has a “COMBO DEAL” with a brake light flasher included.  Internet search “Headlight Modulators” or go to our LINKS page.
